You should call your local venue to ask, no more than one or two hours prior to the start of your booking.

I’m a beginner. What’s the best padel racket for me?

Padel rackets come in three different shapes – round, drop-shaped and diamond-shaped. They are made out of an EVA foam material, are perforated and are shorter and more compact in shape than a tennis racket. The LTA suggest starting out with a round bat, as these will offer you the best control if you’re a beginner. Junior bats are also available for kids, which are slightly lighter and have a shorter grip to make them easier to use.

What should I wear to play padel?

There’s no dress code on the Padel court – it’s all about wearing what you feel most comfortable in. We’d suggest some kind of sports kit and a comfy pair of trainers are a good place to start. However, there are specific padel trainers that can better suit the playing surface – if you fancy buying some yourself, we’d recommend talking to one of the Padel coaches.

Can I hire a padel racket?

At Hyde Park, The Regent’s Park and Lammas Park Padel rackets are available to hire for £5 per hour (per player). At Lammas Park Padel rackets are available during café opening hours. To collect your padel, please visit reception before your booking. You’ll need to present a valid photo ID, which will be securely held at reception while you play. Note: Padel balls are not available for hire but can be purchased at our venues.

Improve Your Padel Skills

A great opportunity to build your padel skills through small-group coaching. Learn from experienced padel coaches using game-based learning and targeted drills.

Padel Course Levels

Make new friends and progress at your own pace. If you want to power up your skills by practicing in a group, we have a range of coaching programmes that cater to players of all ages and abilities. Build your skills and learn from top coaches, while meeting and socialising with new players on court – what’s not to love?

Beginner Courses

For new padel players just starting, or those who may struggle with the fundamentals, such as forehand or backhand technique and consistency. Coaching includes drills and games to steadily introduce players to the game. Includes teaching the basics of stroke play, how to serve and how to keep score.

Improver Courses

Ideal for anyone returning to play after a long break, or players who have just completed the beginner’s course. Game-based learning is used to emphasise good stroke technique. We will cover forehand (bajada) and baseline strokes (chiquita), lobs and smash (bandeja) technique. Games and point-based scenarios are used to introduce double team tactics.

Intermediate Courses

Aimed at more experienced players who want to gain consistency. Players at this standard will have a solid skill base and will probably have played padel for some time. As a guide, you should have sufficient skill to be able to consistently rally – using forehands (bajada) and baseline strokes (chiquita), lob and smash (bandeja) techniques with 60% efficiency.

These courses are only for players who have played padel for many years and who now play regularly. You can rally consistently and create opportunities to win points from your forehand and backhand.
